Judge rules Wyoming gubernatorial candidate can stay in race

A Cheyenne judge denied a request on Friday to order Republican governor candidate Taylor Haynes to withdraw from the race.

Wyoming officials had asked Laramie County District Judge Thomas Campbell to declare Haynes ineligible based on the location of his residence.

Haynes’ ranch lies right on the border of the Wyoming-Colorado line, and some state officials claim he lives on the Colorado side. Haynes told reporters he thought the claims were, “politically motivated action.”

Haynes is one of six Republican candidates trying for to replace Matt Mead. Bill Dahlin, Foster Friess, Sam Galeotos, Mark Gordon, and Harriet Hageman are also running.

The primary vote is set for August 21st.
