Johnson County rollover crash leaves one dead, one injured

(Johnson County, WY) – A one vehicle rollover on WY-387 was reported at 12:45 PM Wednesday, November 3rd, which resulted in one death and one injury, according to Wyoming Highway Patrol preliminary report.

The deceased has been identified as 75-year-old Wyoming resident Anita Iriberry.

The report states Iriberry was traveling east on WY-387, and as she was approaching a left-hand curve, the vehicle exited the roadway to the right.

Iriberry attempted to steer right and struck the guardrail with the front passenger side tire leaving tire marks on the guardrail.

The vehicle crossed back over the eastbound lane and westbound lane before striking a bridge deck rail with the driver side front.

After impact with the bridge rail, the vehicle rotated clockwise where the rear driver side struck the rail as it began to overturn onto the driver side.

The vehicle then overturned 1/4 times and slid on the driver side, coming to a rest facing south in the middle of the road and blocking both lanes of travel.

Iriberry, became partially ejected at the start of the overturn and was pinned between the vehicle and the roadway.

The report indicates that driver fatigue and a possible medical condition are being looked into as possible contributing factors, and that Iriberry was not wearing a seatbelt.

To date, there have been 95 fatalities on Wyoming’s roadways in 2021, compared to 117 in 2020, 132 in 2019, and 102 in 2018.
