Detention Deputies; 9-1-1 Dispatchers

The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office is currently hiring Detention Deputies and 911 Dispatchers

DETENTION DEPUTY: Deputies oversee the daily activities and care of inmates to include all associated tasks in providing an overall safe and secure environment for both staff and inmates. Deputies also provide armed transportation of inmates for medical appointments, court hearings, and to and from other facilities.  Deputies will go through a field training program for duties within the facility, and will complete a 6-week course at the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy. The training will be paid for by the Sheriff’s Office.  This is a full-time position requiring weekends and holidays, full benefits, starting wage is $42,000/year.

EMERGENCY SERVICE PUBLIC SAFETY 9-1-1 DISPATCHER: Dispatchers answer and process emergency 9-1-1 as well as non-emergency telephone calls from the public.  They then notify the appropriate Emergency Service Provider: fire, medical, or law enforcement.  This is a fast-paced work environment. Public Safety is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. This position requires the applicant to be able to work shift work and a variety of shifts to include overtime.  This is a full-time position requiring weekends and holidays, full benefits, starting wage is $35,822/year.

Both positions are in Lander, WY and come with a great benefits package – medical, dental, vision, and Wyoming Law Enforcement retirement, paid sick and vacation leave.  Applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalency, be at least 18 years of age and a U.S. citizen.  Must be able to pass an extensive background, psychological test, and drug test.  Additionally, Deputy applicants will be required to pass a physical test comprised of a run, sit-ups, and pushups; 9-1-1 Dispatcher applicants will be required to take an aptitude test, a physical, and a hearing test.
