    Jaite selected for 2022 Special Olympics USA Games in June

    (Riverton, WY) – Riverton Schools Special Olympics athlete Jesse Jaite is headed to the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games where he will swim for team Wyoming.

    Jesse is one of four local athletes that will join Special Olympics Riverton coaches Jenni Wildcat and Joe Whiteplume at the games.

    Jesse, a RHS senior, had a special drumline leading up to the announcement at the high school today, December 10th.

    The 2022 Special Olympics USA Games is scheduled for June 5-12, 2022 in Orlando, Florida. More than 5,500 athletes and coaches from all 50 states and the Caribbean will travel to Florida to unite in one of the country’s most cherished sporting events. The USA Games is hosted once every four years and showcases 20 Olympic-style team and individual sports and 30 events throughout the week including forums and VIP receptions.

    Team Wyoming is made up of 31 athletes and 11 coaches. Athletes qualify for USA Games by placing Gold at State Competition. Those who qualify are selected at random.
