Interstate 25 near Cheyenne shut down briefly Thursday afternoon for a fire

WYDOT

A wildfire forced the closure of Interstate 25 between Cheyenne and the Colorado State Line Thursday afternoon.

Shortly after 2:00 p.m. Thursday the Wyoming Department of Transportation closed the highway as fire crews worked to extinguish the flames. At roughly 3:15 p.m., traffic was reopened in both directions. During that time traffic was detoured on Highway 85.

The stretch of Interstate 25 and all of Wyoming’s Interstate 80 are seeing increased traffic currently due to closures in Colorado due to wildfires. That includes Interstate 70, west of Denver.
