Information released for I-80 crash that resulted in truck driver death

(Sweetwater County, WY) – On December 15th, 10:34 AM, a crash was reported on I-80 / US-30 that resulted in one fatality, according to a Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP) preliminary report released on Thursday, December 23rd.

The deceased has been identified as 61-year-old New York truck driver Albert Grant.

The report states Grant’s combination unit truck was eastbound on Interstate 80 which was ice-covered and very slick, while the wind was blowing extremely hard.


There was a crash ahead of the vehicle involving partial road blockage, where Grant lost control of the vehicle, which then rotated clockwise and exited the roadway to the left.

Once in the borrow ditch the vehicle tripped and rolled 1/4 time coming to rest on the driver side.

Grant was reportedly improperly using his seatbelt, and was partially ejected with the vehicle coming to rest on top of him.

To date, there have been 112 fatalities on Wyoming’s roadways in 2021, compared to 127 in 2020, 144 in 2019, and 110 in 2018.
