    In loving memory, Lyle “Bim” Ute, Jr

    Lyle “Bim” Ute, Jr. (Dahgoo whunnuh doogoo) Born on April 12, 1960 passed away on August 6, 2021 in Riverton, Wyoming. Wake services at Beatrice Haukaas’ residence, #18 Sand Hills Road on Wednesday, at 7p.m. on Wednesday, August 11, 2021. An Early Sunrise Service with the Spring Creek Singers from Fort Hall, Idaho. Traditional Indian Services will be held on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at 10a.m. at the Rocky Mountain Hall in Fort Washakie, Wyoming. Interment at Sacajawea Cemetery.

    Lyle was born on April 12, 1960 to Beatrice (Teran) Haukaas and Lyell Ute, Sr in Lander, Wyoming. Lyle attending elementary school at Ft. Washakie. He graduated high school from Flandreau Indian School in Flandreau, South Dakota. While at Flandreau Lyle was an outstanding wrestler. He then went to Bismarck, North Dakota and graduated from U.T.T.C. After school he relocated back to the Wind River Indian Reservation where he lived until his untimely death.

    As a young boy he participated in the Native American Church, was a Sundancer, and a fancy dancer. While in the Sundance at 13 years old, his great grandfather Bavado gave him the name “Dahgoo whunnuh doogoo” (Grandson Sundancer). Lyle loved spending time with his grandchildren, going to the mountains, cutting wood, and going to the casino. He loved his dog Moose. Lyle raised his grandsons Zeke Ute, Aneillio Quiver, and George Quiver, Jr.

    At the time of his death he was employed by Olsen’s Renovating. He also worked for Isanti Construction which took him to Parker, Arizona.

    Lyle is survived by daughters: Gail Gail Ute, Marlee Rose (Charles) Blackbear, Daeshaun Ute. Sons: Kenneth Dean Ute, and Steven Thomas Monroe. Mother Beatrice Haukaas. Sisters: Georgietta (Francis) Acebo, Cathleen Ute, Carol Leigh (Jose) Ruiz, Terah Ute, Katrina Ute, Nicole Ute, Yolanda Ute, Candace (Gabe) Hereford, Shanessa Ute, Debra Kay Antelope, Rhonda Haukaas, and Connie Tyler. Brothers: Ron (Karen) Haukaas, Kyell Ute, Sr., LaGrand Coby, Wayland Coby, and Ivan Tinno, Jr. Aunts: Marva (Delmar) Haukaas, Reba Jo Teran. Uncle: Curtis Moon. Numerous nieces and nephews. Many relatives of the following families of Ute, Teran, Wesaw, Haukaas, Weeks, Hill, Norah, Wagon, Isis, Tinno, Tillman, Weed, Racehorse, McAdams, Coby, Moon, Nipwater, Edmo, Hebah, Pingree, Track, Kathryn Shakespeare family, and Pansy St. Clair family.

    He was preceded in death by: his father Lyell Ute, Sr., daughter: Cindy June Ute, son: Lyle James Ute, sister: Cynthia Lou Teran, Brother: Leon Patton Ute, Nephews: Berk Jon Ute, Leon Moon, Nathaniel Moon, Aiden Eagle Road, David Haukaas, Sr., Tyrel Teran, Niece: Keanna Coby, Aunts: Sandra Ute, Veltha Wheeler, Phyliss (Ute) Weiser, Rose Hebah, Peggy Nipwater, Uncles: Floyd Teran, Julius Teran, Tylise Teran, Leland Teran, Edgar Teran, Erwin Teran, Dennis Teran, Patton Teran, Darwin Ute, Manuel Ute, Donald Ute, Newman Ute, Wally Hebah, Nat Moon, Gary Moon, Grandparents: Booker Teran and Martha Wesaw.
