In loving memory, Craig “Lane” Parry

Craig Lane Parry (Lane), 76, of Lander, Wyoming, passed away peacefully on April 20th after a valiant battle with two forms of blood cancer.

Lane was born on May 19, 1945 to Christopher and Abigail Parry in Cedar City, UT. After graduating from Cedar City High School in 1963, he served a two-year full-time mission in England for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Shortly after completing his mission, he met the love of his life, Brenda Parry, on a blind date arranged by his sister. They were later married in the Idaho Falls, Idaho temple for time and eternity.

In 1971, Lane and his bride planted roots in Lander, where they spent their entire marriage of 50 years. He was initially employed as a manager of an outdoor clothing factory known as Petzoldt’s. He adapted to and excelled in many different occupations, including maintenance mechanic, heavy equipment operator, delivery truck driver, general contractor, and journeyman plumber.

Lane loved the Lander community and beautiful surrounding mountains. He was passionate about everything outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking, backpacking, and camping whenever he could. He also loved to garden, devoting himself to church service, and studying history of the LDS pioneers and World War II. When relaxing, he was an avid reader, and family joked he would read anything within reach including books, magazines, cereal boxes, and his children’s textbooks.

After retiring in 2014, Lane spent his time with his family, watching BYU collegiate sports and Colorado Rocky baseball while undergoing numerous treatments to extend his life.

Lane is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Arnold, Melton, and Grayson. He is survived by his wife, Brenda; his six children, Jennifer (Steve) Lewis of West Haven, UT, Brian (Becky) Parry of Fruita, CO, Melanie Parry of College Station, TX, Shane Parry of Pleasant Grove, UT, Angela (Kai) Samuelsen of Rochester, MN, and Justin Parry 0f Laramie, WY; his eight grandchildren, Cody, Thea, Evan, Corbin, Lauren, Conner, Preston and Beckham; his sisters, Patricia (Robert) Little and Pam Thompson; and his brothers, Karnell (Barbara) Parry and Chris (Mona) Parry.
