    High Wind Warning to continue throughout Wednesday evening

    The National Weather Service office in Riverton says the High Wind Warning in place for Wednesday will continue through at least 6:00 p.m. Wednesday evening.

    Gusts of up to 60 mph are possible throughout the Wind River Basin.

    Temperatures reached the low 40’s Wednesday afternoon but will dip into the single digits Wednesday night. Thursday, residents can expect temperatures to hover around the freezing mark.

    * WINDS...Northwest 30 to 40 mph with gusts to 60 mph.

    * TIMING...Very strong winds are expected to develop this morning,
      and continue through the afternoon. Winds will diminish around
      sunset.
    
    * IMPACTS...Mainly to transportation. The high winds may cause
      loss of vehicle control or a blow over to high profile
      vehicles traveling empty or with a light load.
    
    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
    
    A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected
    or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts
    of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.

    will continue across the the west this morning, becoming isolated
    in the mountains this afternoon.
    
    .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday.
    
    Friday and Friday night...A chance of snow for the mountains and
    the far west valleys. A chance for strong winds to return to
    northern Johnson County, the Wind River Basin and Sweetwater
    County.
    
    Saturday and Sunday...Chances of snow showers across the west and
    south. Light accumulations are expected.
    
    Christmas Day...Snow showers are expected to spread across the
    area from the south and west by the evening.

    Spotters are urged to report snowfall amounts and wind gusts over
