Hearts are full at SageWest
Every Thursday in January, Pingora Yarns and friends gathered for a knitting charity drive. Their goal? To knit or crochet enough red hats to be given to every newborn in Fremont County in the month of February.
“This effort is in conjunction with the American Heart Association’s ‘Little Hats, Big Hearts’ campaign to empower moms to live a healthy heart life and help their children to do the same,” explained Carrie Johnson, owner of the Lander yarn shop.
They did it! January 29th, some of the knitters met with the Women’s Health Unit at SageWest Health Care in Lander to present their creations. Teeny-tiny, red caps were given in abundance.
One of the first to receive one of these red hats is baby Celese (pictured above).
“SageWest Health Care is honored to celebrate American Heart Month with such wonderful help from members of our community,” SageWest CEO, Alan Daugherty, said. “We are proud to support healthy lifestyles and promote wellness, especially in young people.”
