    Healthy kids are happy kids

Ear, nose, and throat conditions are some of the most common reasons for which kids need quality care. Ear infections are the number one reason why kids visit the doctor. As a parent, you may not be able to prevent ear infections but you can help prevent Noise-induced Hearing Loss.

As many as 17 percent of teens (ages 12 to 19) have features of their hearing that suggest Noise-induced Hearing Loss (NIHL) in one or both ears. Very loud sounds damage the hair cells of the cochlea, the hearing part of the inner ear. Activities that can put kids in danger for noise-induced hearing loss include target shooting/hunting, snowmobile riding, listening to music/gaming devices at high volume through earbuds/headphones, playing in a band, or attending loud concerts.

Use hearing protection for young children in environments where they are exposed to loud noise, like sporting events and concerts. Read more about noise-induced hearing loss in kids by clicking here.
