#HeadsUp: Seasonal closures for local public lands

With winter fast approaching, the Bureau of Land Management reminds public land users of annual motorized travel restrictions in the Lander Field Office area.

The following areas will close to seasonal motorized vehicle travel in order to protect critical wildlife wintering and parturition habitats, as well as roadbeds and erodible soils:

    • Red Canyon Area of Critical Environmental Concern (ACEC): December 1st – June 15th
    • Green Mountain ACEC, including Green Mountain Campground and Loop Road: December 1st – June 15th
    • Lander Slope ACEC, including Shoshone Lake Road (which closed November 25th): December 1st – June 15th
    • East Fork ACEC: December 16th – May 15th

The BLM is committed to facilitating access to public lands and keeping the lands healthy and productive. All seasonal and year-round vehicle and access restrictions are available here.

If you have questions regarding closure areas, please contact Jared Oakleaf or Mike Coyne at the Lander Field Office at 307-332-8400 or at [email protected] or [email protected].
