#HeadsUp: Riverton Main Street repair project shutting down for weekend celebration

This #headsup is brought to you by Bailey’s Tire and Auto Service.

(Riverton, WY) – Rehabilitation of Riverton Main Street’s concrete driving surface is continuing between North Federal Boulevard and North 1st Street, and paving of the north side of Main Street is scheduled to be completed by Thursday afternoon, July 15th.

No work is scheduled July 16th-18th during Riverton’s annual car show and hot-air balloon rally.

71 Construction of Riverton is the prime contractor on a $1.443 million concrete rehabilitation project on Main Street in downtown Riverton.

Traffic movements in all Main Street driving lanes are scheduled to be restored by Friday morning, July 16th, in anticipation of the annual car show and summer celebration.

The contractor’s new work schedule is calling for intermittent work on water valves and manholes between Monday, July 19th, and Thursday, July 22nd, on the north half of Main Street, according to Wyoming Department of Transportation resident engineer Robert Scheidemantel of Riverton.

“During this work, traffic will be running in all 4 lanes of Main Street, except where crews are working,” Scheidemantel said.

WYDOT striping crews are scheduled to finish highway striping on the north half of Main Street on Monday, July 19th.

The contractor’s new work schedule calls for the same process — milling, paving and other work — to begin on the south side of Main Street on Monday, Aug. 2nd. Paving is scheduled between Tuesday, Aug. 10th, and Friday, Aug. 13th. Work on manholes, valve boxes, thermoplastic crosswalks, and striping is scheduled through Aug. 27th.

Like work on the north side of Main, side-street intersections will be closed on the south side of Main Street during concrete milling, cleaning and other preparations for paving.

Scheidemantel said 2-way traffic will be maintained on the north half of the roadway at all times while work is being done on the south half of Main Street.

The concrete rehabilitation project is 0.50 miles in length between North Federal Boulevard and North 1st Street. The project includes concrete milling, asphalt paving, and curb, gutter and Americans with Disabilities Act ramp repairs.

Project completion date is Oct. 31st, 2021.
