Weather conditions have forced the Wyoming Department of Transportation to shut down both US 287/789 from Lander to Sweetwater Station and US 139 Riverton to Sweetwater Station.
Many Fremont County highways are slick to slick in spots with gusty winds and blowing snow as of Saturday evening.
Currently, WYDOT does not have a timetable for reopen.
The National Weather Service office in Riverton upgraded the winter storm expected to hit Sunday afternoon and continue through Monday from a “watch” to a “warning” Saturday.
6-12 inches of snow in lower Fremont County elevations are expected and higher elevations could get up to 18 inches of snow per the latest projections.
