The Shoshone National Forest Service made the following announcement this week:

A 2.3 mile section of the Louis Lake Road, known locally as the Loop Road, will be closed weekly Monday through Friday for the remainder of the fall due to construction. The Loop Road, NFSR 300, is located on the Washakie Ranger District west of Lander, Wyo.

The weekday closure will impact 2.3 miles of road from the Little Popo Agie Bridge to the parking area for Christina Lake Trailhead, which is located near Fiddlers Lake. Access for Christina Lake Trailhead will be impacted during this construction project; please utilize Fiddlers Lake Campground as an access point for the Christina Lake trail system.

The entire Loop Road will be open every Saturday and Sunday for public use; however, camping is not permitted within the construction zone.

The purpose of this Federal Highway Administration funded project is to improve user safety on the Loop Road by cutting back slopes to increase visibility and by widening turnouts at narrow locations along the road.
