#HeadsUp: FCSO warns of local scam calls

This #headsup is brought to you by Bailey’s Tire and Auto Service.

(Fremont County, WY) – The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) has issued an alert to the public to inform them of scam callers posing as the FCSO.

The full release is below.

We want to alert the community of a recently reported scam in our area. Thieves are calling using disguised phone numbers that if you call back ring right here at the sheriff’s dept!

They are trying to get information from you to use for illicit purposes. DO NOT give any information out over the phone! We will not call you and demand payment for warrants, you do not have undeliverable packages that need payment etc.

If anyone asks you to go buy gift cards as a form of payment DON’T DO IT! If someone sends you a cashiers check as payment for an item DON’T CASH IT! We do not want to see anyone else in our community fall victim to these Scammers.

Most of the calls originate from outside the US and tracking them down can be difficult. Please speak to your friends who may not have Facebook to make them aware.

If you have elderly family and friends please make it a point to warn them about this scam as they are the prime targets of this type of crime.
