#HeadsUp: Every second counts in emergencies; keep fire hydrants accessible

This #headsup is brought to you by Bailey’s Tire and Auto Service.

A few Lander Volunteer Fire Department (LVFD) Firefighters spent Saturday morning clearing hydrants around Lander so they can be easily accessed in an emergency. “On a day like today, the last thing we want to think about is shoveling more snow,” LVFD Chief Johnston said.

Chief Johnston reminds residents, “…if you have a fire hydrant on your property, take a look at it and see if it’s clear. If not take a moment to give that hydrant some love. In an emergency, every second counts! Fire hydrants that are blocked, concealed, or difficult to access due to snow or ice can and will impede our ability to quickly and effectively respond.”

He also shared a special thanks to “…LVFD Firefighters Josh Heninger and Andrew Bingaman for graciously giving their time on a beautiful Saturday morning to clear hydrants around town in an effort to ensure our community is always safe!”
