Head to Lander City Park on Saturday from 9 to 11:30 a.m. to peruse and purchase local produce, products and art at the Lander Valley Farmers Market. This week’s vendors have reported that they’ll be bringing red potatoes, pickling cucumbers, kohlrabi, buttercup squash, broccoli, flowers, zucchini bread, apple pie, rhubarb pie and honey. There will also be an observation beehive on display.
Grilling Corn
Nothing quite says summer like corn on the grill. Following are some tips on grilling corn. Add a hammock, an icy lemonade and a good book, and you’ll have the perfect late-summer evening.
In the husk: Trim long silk, and remove loose husk leaves. Place the corn in the husk directly on the hot grill. Cook for 15 to 20 minutes, flipping the corn a few times during cooking. Let the corn cool for five minutes, then carefully remove the husk and silk.
In foil: Remove the husk and silk from the corn. Wrap the corn in foil individually. Place the wrapped corn directly on the grill, and cook for 15 to 20 minutes, turning it a few times during cooking.
Directly on the grill: Place the corn directly on the grill, and cook for 10 to 15 minutes, turning a few times.
Combination: Start by cooking the corn in the husk or foil. Then remove the corn from the husk or foil. Place the corn directly on the grill grates for two to three minutes, turning a couple of times until the kernels get some char.
