(Riverton, WY) – A grass fire was reported on the 800 block of Rendezvous Road just after 10:30 am on Monday, March 29th. No injuries or loss of structures were reported.
18 firefighters responded to assist – 12 from the Riverton Fire Department and 6 from Fremont County Fire Protection District, according to the RFD Chief Brian Hutchins. They remained on the scene and mopping up for over four hours.
Yesterday’s windy conditions reignited a previous day burn pit fire, Hutchins shared. The fire quickly spread toward WY-789 covering 16 acres of grass and brush.
“Wind was the biggest factor in trying to get it shut down.”
Hutchins shared a reminder for folks to make sure your burn from the day before is completely out.
