(Riverton, WY) – A large grass fire continues to move toward WY-789 just south of Riverton. Avoid the area and yield to responders as they work to control the fire and keep it from jumping the highway.
The fire started around 10:45 am on the 800 block of Rendezvous and due to strong winds has moved rapidly toward the highway. Several homes have been evacuated.
Fire support from Riverton, Hudson, and Fremont County are currently on the scene as well as law enforcement. The cause of the grass fire is not known at this time. We will share information as it is released by authorities.
