    Gilpatricks honored at Boys & Girls Club Awards Breakfast

    (Riverton, WY) – The Boys & Girls Club of Central Wyoming honored Rick and Josephine Gilpatrick for their many years of community service at their 2nd Annual Awards & Recognition Breakfast on Wednesday, April 27 at the Fremont Center.

    Governor Mark Gordon delivered the welcome address, First Lady Jennie Gordon presented the Riverton Education Award, and Emmy Award winner Rudy Ruettiger, inspiration for the 1993 film, Rudy, was the Keynote Speaker.

    Mayor Gard delivered the Proclamation naming Wednesday, April 27, 2022 as Boys & Girls Appreciation and Awareness Day. “I would urge the citizens of our community to join with me to express our support for Boys & Girls Club of Riverton, as it helps children realize their full potential as responsible, productive and caring citizens.”
    R-Recreation Director Mary Axthelm addressed the audience on the vision of the Boys & Girls Club. “Characters are being developed. Giving back to our community is being encouraged. Academic success is supported. Healthy lifestyle choices are embraced. Amazing mentorship is happening, and the leaders of our community are beginning to blossom.”
    Boys & Girls Club of Central Wyoming CEO Ashley Bright announced members of the RHS Wolverine football team and the initiation of the “Wolverine Buds” mentoring program for the Boys & Girls Club.
    First Lady Jennie Gordon presented RHS Senior Carolyn Thompson with the Boys & Girls Club of Central Wyoming Education Scholarship award. Thompson plans on attending the University of Wyoming to study journalism, theater and dance.
    Central Bank & Trust President and one of the founding members of the Boys & Girls Club, Kip Post addressed the audience about B&G Club Mission. “‘Children are the living messages we send to a time we will not see.’ This is a quote I read by JFK, and I instantly thought of the type of message the Boys & Girls Club wants to send into the future through the children we serve.”

    Bryce Westlake of Westlake Auctioneers leads a fundraising auction for the Boys & Girls Club.
