Fremont County Sheriff’s assist side-by-side that fell through ice on Ocean Lake this weekend

There were no injuries in an early Saturday morning incident on Ocean Lake, in which a side-by-side UTV fell through the ice.

At 2:09 a.m. December 22nd, Fremont County Sheriff’s received a call about the accident. Dispatchers determined that none of the occupants were in the water, and there were no injuries.

Sheriff’s noted in a release Monday that the UTV wound in up, “about four feet of water.” The location of the incident was described as, “about 150 feet on the ice from the cattle guard off Long Point.”

Authorities remind those who are recreating on the ice this winter to use extreme caution. Avoid moving water, realize that not every spot on a lake is exactly the same, watch for ice piles with snow, listen to your surroundings, bring spikes, and don’t fish alone, always bring a change of warm clothes just in case.
