Fremont County School District #21 extends closure through April 17th

Fremont County School District #21 shared the following annoucement:

With the message from Governor Gordon and State Health Dr. Harrist, (below) Fremont County School District #21, Fort Washakie schools will remain closed through April 17, 2020. This latest news means schools will remain closed after our scheduled Spring Break which runs from March 30 through April 3, 2020. During Spring Break we will not be providing meals. On April 6, 2020, the delivery of meals will resume and class instruction will begin.

Administration has been working the last two weeks with teachers and staff to develop ways to begin instruction while students remain at home. Mrs. Smith, Mrs. Meyer and Mr. Ray along with teachers have and will be reaching out to parents/guardians and students to implement what is being referred to around the state as “Adapted Learning Plans”. This learning plan will be a combination of online and work packets for students. As we began this process it is important to have both parent and student participation so learning can continue during this pandemic. We don’t know if we will be back in classrooms before the end of the school year so there is no time to waste getting started.

The Adapted Learning Plan is the instructional method the Wyoming Department of Education expects all District schools to implement. These plans will vary around the state but all will have the same foundations of virtual and learning packets. I want to thank all those who returned the surveys. As of March 27, we had 83% returned. If you still have yours, please return it to us. We are using this information to determine the best method of providing instruction to your child/children.

In closing, watch for information from your child’s school administration and teachers. There will be information on the PK8 and High School Facebook pages and through Infinite Campus. Also check our District Website for information.

All athletic activities and practices remain cancelled during this time as well. The library and Culture Center are also closed.

Questions may be directed to 332-2380 or the District Office at 332-5983.
