    Fremont County man facing aggravated assault and endangering children charges

    Dominic Arthur, 27, of Fremont County is facing one count of Aggravated Assault and Battery and one count of Endangering Children.

    On August 16, 2020 the Riverton Police Department responded to SageWest Riverton for a report of a subject who had been assaulted.

    Upon arriving, an RPD officer noted locating a pregnant 26-year-old female with a swollen and discolored right eye, swollen lip, and large bump on her forehead.

    According to the court documents, the victim told authorities that Arthur had, “kicked her in the head” in an apartment complex. He then, “forced her off of a bed, causing her to hit her head on something on the ground.” The woman stated that Arthur proceeded to then, “strike her in the head approximately twenty times.”

    The victim told authorities that after the attack she was able to, “kick herself away from Arthur.” The victim then took children who were also in the apartment out of the house and left. After leaving the children with a family member, she checked herself into the Emergency Room.

    The Riverton Police Department arrived at Arthur’s residence a short time after the hospital call. RPD was given access to the residence by a female and later located Arthur hiding in a closet. Court documents show that he tried to, “block the officer from opening the closet door.”

    Despite the resistance, RPD was able to force the door open. Dominic was arrested and placed into handcuffs that were double-locked.

    If convicted, Aggravated Assault and Battery is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and Endangering Children is punishable by up to 1 year in prison and a fine of up to $1,000.
