    Fremont County firefighters called to over 40 incidents in last 48 hours

    According to a release from the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office, firefighters across county 10 stayed relatively busy throughout the night of July 3rd and all day on the 4th of July.

    Between 7:00 p.m. July 3rd and 2:31 a.m. July 5th, firefighters were called out 45 times.

    The majority of these incidents were in the Riverton area. Riverton Volunteer Firefighters responded to 17 grass fires, and 5 structure fires. Fremont County’s Battalion 1 also responded to 2 rural grass fires outside of Riverton.

    Lander Volunteer Firefighters were called out 6 times during this time span, including 5 grass fires on the 4th of July. A fire was also reported in a tree on Lander’s Main Street.

    The Morton/Kinnear Fire Department received 3 grass fire calls, Fort Washakie’s fire team responded to a structure fire just after midnight Thursday. Meanwhile, Hudson’s Fire Department had 1 grass fire shortly after 10:00 p.m., Shoshoni responded to 1 grass fire just before 10:00 p.m., and the Midvale Fire Department had a grass fire just after 9:30 p.m.

    County fire fighters were also called to several personal injury accidents, a power line issue, an odor investigation, and a smoke investigation.
