Firefighters across the Fremont County Fire Protection District were kept pretty busy Monday afternoon and evening with a variety of calls.
Shortly after 12:30 p.m. the Lysite Fire Department was first to respond to a semi-truck rollover on U.S. 26, about 2 miles west of Moneta. At least one person was transported via ambulance in this accident, the extent of injuries is unknown at this time.
The Lander Rural Fire Department was dispatched to a chimney fire on Irwin Lane in Lander shortly after 3:30 p.m. Monday afternoon. No injuries were reported, it is unknown at this point how much damage occurred.
Several fire teams were called to a semi-truck on fire off of Sand Mesa Road, west of Shoshoni just after 4:30 p.m. According to reports, the truck was hauling a load of hay, which appeared to have caught fire first. There were no reported injuries.
Finally, the Riverton Fire Department responded to two calls. At 3:16 p.m., a grass fire burned near the intersection of Rendezvous Road and 17-Mile Road. Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze in less than an hour despite gusty wind.
Riverton Fire was also paged to an accident on 17-Mile Road just after 7:30 p.m. Monday evening. The details of the accident are unknown at this time, however, we have confirmed at least one person was transported to a hospital.
