    Fremont County DUI Task Force tackles impaired driving during New Years

    This week during New Years celebrations law enforcement will be working around the clock to find and stop drunk driving, according to a recent press release from WYDOT. 

    “This is a special time of year, and we want our community members to enjoy it,” Sheriff Ryan Lee said with the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office, “ Help us put an end to a senseless and preventable tragedy.”

    The Wyoming Highway Patrol, the Lander Riverton and Shoshoni police departments as well as the police at BIA Wind River are on the task force.

    There were 722 alcohol-related crashes, 33 fatal, and 38 deaths in Wyoming during 2020 according to the Wyoming Department of Transportation. In Fremont County there were four fatal alcohol related crashes and five fatalities. 

    The Task Force would like to remind the public that it’s never safe to drink and drive, if you see a drunk driver call law enforcement, and prevent loved ones from driving drunk by taking away keys and plan a safe alternative to get home.
