The Fremont County Commissioners approved the Fremont County Detention Center to move forward with submitting an application for the Abandoned Mine Lands Public Facility Grant to make security upgrades. AML applications are due on Monday, July 15th at 5 pm.

JR Oakley is the detention center maintenance supervisor and leading the grant application process. Oakley shares the three main security upgrades if allocated AML Public Facility Grant funds.

    • Main computer controls – multiple controls throughout the facility that allow movement within the facility
    • Cameras and intercoms – over 80 to upgrade
    • Doors – over 100 to upgrade

Oakley notes with those upgrades the facility will be able to continue serving Fremont County for the next 20+ years.
