Fremont County Coroner Mark Stratmoen shared the below monthly update at the Fremont County Commissioners’ meeting today.
Coroner case numbers remain ahead of last year; 112 so far in 2019 compared to 94 at this time last year.
2019 Non-natural death count:
- Suicide – 10
- Homicide – 6
- Accident – 25
Accident breakdown:
- Motor vehicle – 7
- Direct drug/alcohol toxicity – 6
- Falls – 5
- Drowning – 2
- Asphyxia – 2
- Carbon monoxide – 1
- Hypothermia – 1
Including direct toxicity, drug and alcohol-related deaths are 65% of the total non-natural deaths.
July and August had 11 autopsies compared to 5 for the same two months in 2018.
