    Fort Washakie School reports “threat of violence” Tuesday

    Fort Washakie School reported Tuesday that a “threat of violence” was posted to a social media page.

    As a precaution, the school contacted the Wind River Police Department. A spokesperson with WRPD declined to comment on the situation, but school officials say the investigation is ongoing.

    Fremont County School District #21 Superintendent Terry Ebert said,

    There was a threat of violence posted to social media (Monday) night. We have responded to this information by meeting with students, parents, and Wind River Police. We are using the information obtained to further investigate the incident and ensure the safety of the students and staff. Based on the information we have, we do not believe there is an ongoing threat.”

    Ebert also thanked those that reported the incident and school authorities for investigating the incident in a timely manner. “The safety of students and staff is always a primary goal,” he said.
