    Fort Washakie High School National Honor Society holds its inaugural induction

    Fort Washakie High School Chapter of the National Honor Society conducted its inaugural induction on May 2, 2019.

    Four sophomores and one junior were selected for members in the Society whose purpose is to recognize high school students who excel in scholarship, leadership, character, and service.

    The inductees include Larami Azure, Laylony Bell, Christina Brown, Little Wolf LeBeau, and Shatoni Shoyo.

    Brandon Ray, Principal of Fort Washakie High School welcomed the students during the ceremony and discussed the importance of creating a culture of excellence with the NHS traits.

    Lynette St. Clair was the ceremony’s guest speaker who spoke of several Native leaders creating change across tribal communities and how NHS can help to lead many of the changes needed such as preserving Native languages and creating economic opportunities.

    “We are all given opportunities to improve our lives and the lives of others. It is up to each and every one of you to recognize those opportunities and seize the moment” St. Clair said.

    Scott Polson and Alli Calvert, NHS sponsors talked about creating a culture of academic pride in the school and looking forward to creating opportunities for leadership and service in the school and larger community.

    Former staff Honor Society members took part in the ceremony to induct the new students. These former NHS / Mortar Board members include: Robin Levin, Jamie LeJambre, Fredde Reed, and Scott Polson.
