Fort Washakie District 21 ending busing arrangements with Lander, Wind River schools
(Fort Washakie, Wyo.) – The trustees of Fremont County School District #21, have voted to end a long-time cooperative agreement with Fremont #1 that previously allowed it to pick up students in the Fort Washakie district. Given that the Fort Washakie School is now K-12 with a new school nearly completed, the trustees determined there is no longer a need to allow other districts to take students out of the district.
At the same time, the board agreed to no longer provide transportation for district students to the Wind River Schools at Pavillion.
While Fremont County has open enrollment, meaning that students can attend the school of their choice, as long at the school accepts them, those students will now have to find their own way to Lander and Pavillion.
