Former Riverton standout Xavier Webb named interim head basketball coach at Sul Ross State University [PODCAST]

Riverton High School graduate and athletic standout Xavier Webb has been named the interim head men’s basketball coach at Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas.

Webb was an All-State guard for the Wolverines, named Mr. Wyoming Basketball, and helped RHS get to a state championship game in 2013. Webb then played junior college basketball for both Sheridan College and Central Wyoming College. In 2015, he transferred to Sul Ross State University to play for two more years.

After his athletic career and college graduation, he accepted an assistant basketball coach job with Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, Texas. In 2019, Webb found his way back 5 hours south to Sul Ross as an assistant basketball and cross country coach.

Last week, Sul Ross Head Coach Clif Carroll announced he had accepted a job at Mary Hardin-Baylor University. Soon after, Webb was named the interim head coach.
