Flags for the Fallen honor planned at Mountain View Cemetery

(Riverton, WY) – The Riverton Veterans Hall has planned the annual Flags for the Fallen Ceremony for Memorial Day.

On Saturday, May 29th, approximately 1,700 flags will be placed on Veteran graves at Mountain View Cemetery, according to Veterans Hall Commander Warren Hess. The logistics for the placement is underway including flag bundling. Those wishing to volunteer should meet at the cemetery at 8 am.

The Ceremony will happen on Monday, May 31st, at the Cemetery. This is an opportunity to acknowledge and pay your respects to the Veterans buried there, Hess explained.

Also going up on Saturday is the Avenue of Flags. They will line Riverton’s Main Street until Monday evening.

Hess also encourages any local Veterans to get involved with the Riverton Veterans Hall which consists of members from all different Veteran organizations. This is a nonprofit created in response to the decrease in membership.

Those interested are encouraged to stop by their office located at 611 E Main Street between the hours of 9 am to 1 pm, Monday through Friday.

County 10 is working to connect with all local Veteran organizations to share all of the planned Memorial Day ceremonies across the county. If you know of any events happening, please let us know!
