(Riverton, WY) – Dozens of runners, joggers, walkers, stroller-pushers, dogs, and even a couple kids on bicycle joined forces to show support for local breast cancer patients and survivors Saturday.
The event was the first of its kind in Riverton, hosted by the Wyoming Breast Cancer Initiative (WBCI) and SageWest.
Prior to the start of the 5K, a half-hour long ceremony was held in the SageWest parking lot. WBCI President Cara Nett spoke along with SageWest’s Lindsey Anderson. SageWest’s Margaret Wilder introduced breast cancer survivor Breanne Weston who shared her journey with an emotional crowd.
The Shoshoni ROTC presented the colors and George Leonard provided a blessing for the participants and cancer patients.
Winners were announced shortly after all participants made it back to the start/finish line in front of the hospital entrance.
