The Thermopolis Fire Department reported via their Facebook page at about 10:00 p.m. Tuesday night that a fire had broken out roughly 20 miles east of Thermopolis, and 2.5 miles south of the Murphy Dome Oil Field.
The fire was dubbed the “Packsaddle Fire.”
4 engines, 1 tender, 2 BLM engines, and 1 helicopter were fighting the blaze when the initial post came out.
8:40 a.m. Wednesday update: The Thermopolis Fire Department tells us the fire is now “contained.” It had burned roughly 10 acres as of Tuesday night.
