February is Cancer Prevention Month – healthy choices create change

Sometimes the healthiest choice isn’t the easiest one. You can make a difference and fight cancer in your community by empowering people to make healthy lifestyle choices. Support efforts to prevent cancer by making the healthy choice the easy choice.

Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the United States. Awareness is the first step toward behavior change and prevention is key!

    • Getting screening tests regularly may find breast, cervical, and colorectal (colon) cancers early when treatment is likely to work best.
    • Screening means checking your body for cancer before you have symptoms. Many cancers can be more effectively treated if found early. Talk to your doctors to see if getting screened for breast, cervical, colorectal or lung cancer is right for you. To read more, visit: http://bit.ly/2dX1RD0
    • Avoiding ultraviolet rays through shade structures, protective clothing, and sunscreen can reduce the likelihood of developing skin cancer.
    • Reducing tobacco use and obesity, and improving diet and physical activity could prevent the development of many types of cancer.
