FCSD #25 Superintendent Terry Snyder announces retirement

This year marks Terry Snyder’s forty-third year in education. He’s had several roles in education, but most recently as the Fremont County School District #25 (FCSD #25) Superintendent. He has been in that position for the past nine years. “The district and community have been good to me and my wife. We came from Nebraska, and they welcomed me like locals,” Snyder shared about moving to Wyoming.

Last night at the FCSD #25 School Board meeting, Snyder gave his official letter announcing his retirement. His last day will be July 1st, 2020. He plans to spend his time after that exploring with his wife. He specifically mentioned spending time outdoors in National Parks. They are also planning to spend time visiting their kids and grandkids in other states.

“I felt really blessed to be hired by the school board 9 years ago,” Snyder said. “It has been awesome.” He gave praises to all of the district employees and the tremendous job they do for the students. “It has been a pleasure to work with them.”

Snyder’s tenure as Superintendent has seen a lot of changes within the district. Over the past nine years, he has worked on early childhood learning programs, and as a result, Aspen Early Learning Center was created. Willow Creek Elementary was built in 2016 to address the overcrowding issues. Frontier Academy was also established as an alternative high school and has been successful in keeping kids in school.

“I’ve had a chance to be a part of kids’ lives, parents, and communities. I appreciate those opportunities,” said Snyder.

There are more projects he’d like to see to fruition in the next five months, he noted. “We still have work to do; I’m not done yet.” He has been working on establishing a Boys & Girls Club in Riverton. “We are hopefully getting close.” He also has plans for an auditorium and to move the wrestling program to the high school. “I look forward to helping the kids and staff as best I can for the next five months, and then turn it over to another leader.”

As far as finding the district’s next superintendent, the school board has decided to seek the services of the Wyoming School Board Association in their search.
