FCSD #25’s public forum and reopening plan for fall 2020

In tonight’s public forum the reopening plan of Fremont County School District #25 concluded upon its intentions to follow the Level 1 Open plan.

This plan allows students to attend school in a public setting. However, parents who wish to keep their kids online will have an option to opt-out of the in-person education and enroll in what is known as SPUR online academy.

Superintendent Dr. JoAnne Andre-Flanagan hopes to have the plan concluded by next week. The point of tonight’s forum was to address concerns with parents and make clear what FCSD #25’s intentions are.

Although, each educational facility is set to take their own measures, students will be required to wear a mask during certain times of day, such as entry and exit of the school building. A screening will be conducted to make sure students do not have a temperature higher than 100 F. As the day proceeds student can take off their mask when prompted by the school.

Mask will be provided to students who do not have one. Increased sanitation measures will be taken.

K-5 schools plan on having outdoor recesses but students will remain in class for music and art classes. All schools intend to have P.E. outside, weather depending, as it allows for safer social distancing.

6-12 schools will need to wear a mask upon entry and in between passing periods. Depending on class sizes they may be required to wear a mask in class. Highschool lockers will be spaced out for those who request one, while Riverton Middle School intends to give clear backpacks to students to carry their belongings in.

Lunches will be handed out to the student and are intended to be in eaten in classrooms, not in a cafeteria setting.
