(Fremont County, WY) – In the late afternoon hours of Monday, March 14th, scanner traffic indicated there were “shots fired” in the area of Gas Hills Road.

County 10 reached out to local law enforcement for more details, but at the time none could be given.

The incident resulted in heavy law enforcement presence in the area, and the blocking of a travel lane from milepost .1 to 2 on WY-135, from 8:15 PM to 12:41 AM.

We also reached out to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Denver Field Office, who provided the following information:

“The FBI’s Denver Field Office is investigating the circumstances of a shooting on March 14 in which a Bureau of Indian Affairs officer fired his weapon on the Wind River Indian Reservation, where the FBI has federal jurisdiction.

We are in the early stages of this investigation and will have no further information available while the investigation ensues.

After our agents have gathered all the facts of the shooting, we will provide our findings to the US Attorney’s Office in the District of Wyoming for their review.”

No further information is available at this time, but County 10 will continue to provide updates as they become available, which can be found here.
