(Cheyenne, WY) – Wyoming Highway Patrol responded to a fatal one-vehicle rollover near milepost 348 on I-80 west of Cheyenne at around 4 pm on Sunday, May 8th.
WHP has identified the driver as 89-year-old Laramie resident Donald Corely. He was not wearing a seatbelt and succumbed to the injuries at the scene of the crash.
Corely was headed westbound on I-80 in a passenger vehicle when he failed to negotiate a slight curve and exited the roadway, according to WHP. Overcorrecting caused him to exit the roadway a second time and overturn.
“Troopers are still investigating the crash to determine a possible contributing factor,” WHP said.
This is the 30th fatality on Wyoming’s roadways in 2021 compared to 26 in 2020, 60 in 2019, and 30 in 2018 to date.
