On December 2nd, 2020, a fatal crash occurred around milepost 4.4 on US 14A northeast of Cody around 1:00 pm, according to a December 4th Wyoming Highway Patrol release.
34-year-old Cody resident Dylan Ray was driving westbound in an SUV on US 14A. He was exiting on a right-hand curve and lost control of the vehicle on the ice and snow-covered roadway. Ray crossed into the eastbound lanes and collided with a Freightliner Conventional driven by 30-year-old Riverton resident Travis Cook.
Ray was not wearing a seatbelt and was transported to the West Park Hospital for injuries sustained in the crash. He succumbed to his injuries at the hospital today, according to WHP. Cook was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured in the crash.
Speed is being investigated on the part of Ray as a possible contributing factor.
This is the 120th fatality on Wyoming’s roadways in 2020 compared to 142 in 2019, 107 in 2018, and 119 in 2017 to date.
