Farewell reception honors three Fremont County officials [Photos]

At the conclusion of today’s Fremont County Commissioners meeting in Lander, three Fremont County officials were honored.

Fremont County Treasurer Scott Harnsberger, Sheriff Skip Hornecker, and Commissioner Ray Price are all stepping down from their positions as the new year begins.

Fremont County Commission Chairman Travis Becker began the reception by thanking each of the three individually, “we’ve all had a lot of good memories together” he said. “The door’s always open for each of you.”

Price joked that in his time working for Fremont County he’d, “seen and done it all.”

When patrons asked Sheriff Hornecker what his retirement plans were, he joked, “I’m going to do whatever I want now.” Hornecker told those in attendance, “when little kids play cops and robbers, they always argue over who gets to be the Sheriff. You all have let me be Sheriff for many years and that means a lot.”

Harnsberger simply thanked those in attendance and told the crowd and commissioners that he appreciated everyone’s support over the years.

Many county and Lander officials were in attendance to enjoy cake, punch, and to express their “well-wishes” to the three officials. Lander Mayor Del McOmie and Fremont County Coroner Mark Stratmoen were among many others elected officials there to celebrate.
