Milford family thanks community following house fire
Just before Christmas, County 10 reported on a devastating house fire in Milford. This week, we received a letter from Denise Koch that warms the heart and reminds us why we love Fremont County. Despite personal tragedy, the Koch Family, owners of the home, have taken time to publicly thank those around them. The letter is reproduced below.
To the Community of Lander and our Family and Friends near and far, we are overwhelmed by your outpouring of love and kindness in the past few weeks.
As many of you know, we lost our home in a massive fire just days before Christmas. While the material loss is devastating, we are thankful that the fire claimed no lives. Even though the structure was a complete loss, the First Responders on the scene located and saved Bugg, our beloved senior Alaskan Malamute. Her presence makes this tragedy bearable and we are so very grateful. She loves you guys and dances and sings whenever you pull into the fire station now. We do not have the words to adequately express our gratitude to each of you.
The Firefighters, Highway Patrol, Sheriff’s Department and EMT’s, we recognize and appreciate your valiant efforts. You truly are heroes.
To the Fireman who lowered our American Flag, folded it and handed it to Scrooge- Thank you for your patriotism. As a Navy Veteran, your gesture meant a lot.
To the family and friends who stood with us as we witnessed the devastation, your support and comfort means so much. Thank you for helping us through it and simply being there.
Those of you who offered kind words, prayers, dropped off food, clothing or gifts, and gave donations, time and services, we are humbled by your incredible generosity. Please know that every gesture, no matter how large or small, is appreciated.
We never thought that we would be in such a position of need and we are truly grateful to each and every one of you. We can never repay your kindness but we can certainly endeavor to pay it forward and continue the chain of love. Our hearts are full of gratitude to each of you.
Scrooge, Denise and Bugg
