Fall hunting season is approaching; Deadlines coming up for beaver, special pheasant hunts, and preference points

As fall hunting season begins, there are still a few last deadlines to keep in mind for beaver, special pheasant hunts and preference points.

    Application Ends 12 midnight MDT
    Beaver Sept. 4
Glendo and Springer special pheasant hunts Sept. 17
    Preference points Oct. 31

Preference points can be purchased for resident and nonresident moose and bighorn sheep and nonresident elk, deer and antelope. One preference point per species may be purchased each year you are unsuccessful in drawing your first choice for that particular species. When you apply for a preference point with your hunting application it is not available to be used that year; if you are unsuccessful it is applied to your point total the following year.

Small game and upland bird season opens in many parts of the state on Sept. 1. See the regulations for locations and season tables. Small game and bird licenses are sold over-the-counter for residents and non-residents–no application necessary.

To apply for limited quota drawings or preference points or to purchase a small game and/or upland bird license visit the Game and Fish Apply or Buy page or visit any Game and Fish regional office or the Cheyenne Headquarters.
