(Dubois, WY) – Dubois High School senior Max Claar has been selected for the 2022 6-man Nebraska Shootout football team. The Wyoming / Nebraska series features the best graduating 6-man players from both states.
This year’s contest will be played at Chadron State College on June 3, with kickoff slated for 7 p.m.
The series began in 2012 with a 54-52 win under head coach Arthur Bates of Little Snake River in a game played in Arthur, Nebraska.
The series is tied at 5-5.
Claar at 6-2, 230 pounds, is an outstanding all-around athlete who has placed in the state track meet in both the sprints, the shot put, and discus. He is also a high scoring post on the Rams basketball team with high point games this season of 38 and 52 points.
Head coach David Trembly’s Rams surprised the 6-man league, making the final four before losing in the semi-finals to Encampment.
The field at Don Beebe Stadium will be lined to fit the 80 x 40-yard format of 6-man football.
Jack Cobb, the head coach of the unbeaten, state champion, Little Snake River Rattlers will serve as head coach, with assistant Sam Weeldreyer. Zack Scott from Hanna Elk Mountain and Zeb Hagen of Meeteetse will also serve as assistant coaches.
The West 6-man dominated play this season with all four semi-final teams coming from the west conference. The all-star roster reflects this with 14 of the 18 players on the roster from western teams.
