Dubois gearing up for spring, summer events

The Dubois Town Council took action last week to accommodate several upcoming local events.

The National Wild Turkey Foundation Fundraiser is scheduled to take place 4-10 p.m. April 23 at the Headwaters Community Arts and Conference Center, 20 Stalnaker St. The council approved a temporary catering/open container permit for Rustic Pine Tavern for the event.

The Dubois Speed Goats Dirt Bike Club is hosting a motorcycle race May 21 on the Overlook with up to 70 participants. The council granted the club permission to host the event.

The council also approved a special event permit for the annual Fourth of July Parade in town.

Two TAD grant applications were approved last week:

-$5,540 to help market and advertise for the 2022 Third Highway into Dubois Fly-In summer program

-$2,775 to advertise the Tuesday night square dances at St. Thomas Episcopal Church

A third TAD grant application – $1,000 for visitor’s center equipment and furniture – was denied unanimously, as it did not follow the town’s policy and procedures.

The council also approved business licenses for Romco, 118 E. Ramshorn St., and Diverse Horizons LLC doing business as 2Z’s BBQ, 106 E. Ramshorn St.
