Driver in fatal October accident had BAC nearly three times the legal limit

34-year-old Fremont County man Shane Limpy was killed in an early morning accident Sunday, October 28th.

RPD responded to a one-vehicle rollover at 2:50 a.m. on U.S. Highway 26 near the Lewis Road turnoff. A witness saw Limpy’s 2017 Nissan Titan “lose control, and roll across the eastbound lanes of travel.” The truck ultimately came to a rest 80-90 yards off of the road and into a ditch near the intersection of Highway 26 and Lewis Road.

Attempts to resuscitate the driver on the scene were unsuccessful. Limpy was pronounced dead at the scene.

Law enforcement confirmed that he was wearing a seatbelt during the crash.

A toxicology report from the Fremont County Coroner’s office shows that the driver’s blood alcohol level was 0.228.

The cause of death was listed as “blunt force trauma to head and chest.”
