CASPER, Wyo. – Dramatic video of a deadly pileup on Interstate 80 between Wamsutter and Rawlins on March 1, surfaced on Thursday afternoon.

The video was posted on YouTube by Utah resident Linda Flores, who told Oil City News by email that she was slowly traveling with her nephews to Denver from Utah on Interstate 80 when the pileup occurred in the opposite lanes.

“As we approached the incident we did not notice anything was wrong with the west bound lane because I was focused on the road ahead of me, until I noticed s large white van fly of the westbound road on its side,” wrote Flores.

Flores said traffic in front of them stopped and she assumed there was an accident ahead. When she looked over, she saw the crashes and started shooting video with a cellphone.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol says that three people died in the incident, and around 30 people were injured and treated at Carbon County Memorial Hospital in Rawlins. The majority of vehicles were commercial, said WHP.

The WHP says driving too fast for conditions and following too closely are being investigated as leading causes for the crash, which closed Interstate 80 through late Tuesday night.
