    Donald Gillman Pierson

    Donald Gillman Pierson, age 87 of Riverton,WY, passed away Sunday, December 2nd in Sheridan, WY after a hard battle with lung cancer.

    Don was born June 28, 1931 in a small farmhouse near Lusk, WY. He was a hard working man all his life which came from his upbringing and large family. Don was the 3rd youngest of 9 children. He graduated from Platte Valley Highschool in Torrington WY in 1948, and attended Walla Walla College in Washington State for a year before joining the army and going to Korea as a medical aid man in 1951. After spending most of his young life as a dairy farmer, Don found a long career working in hospitals as the director of plant operations. His work brought him to Fremont County where he worked in the Lander hospital for 36 years before retiring in 1996. Don was well known for his green thumb. After retiring in Riverton Don had ample time for gardening, canning, baking, and shared his home grown goods with friends and family all around Fremont County and beyond.

    Don is survived by his 3 children Melody, Mel (Deborah), and LaRae (Bobby), 2 sisters, 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless other friends and family who’s lives he touched.

    A small Memorial Reception will be held Sunday, December 30th at the Reach Foundation Building from 2-5 pm for anyone who wishes to stop by and share loving memories, great stories, or a good laugh in Dons memory.
